The world presents us with countless pleasures: material goods, power, pride, lust, success. But do any of these bring us lasting happiness or make the fleeting pleasure worth the burning desire for conquest? We find ourselves caught in a blind pursuit of mundane pleasures that offer nothing more than momentary, shallow happiness—yet, we persist on this swing, hoping that the next desire will quell the sense of lack..But nothing of this world can truly satisfy us.
In order to find true happiness, we must get rid of our most beloved object. Ourselves, or better put, our illusory selves, the ego. So the quest of life is either to fall for the temptation and demands of the ego and live in misery, OR recognize that the Ego is not even real, but a thought and surrender that thought in the arms of the divine that will consume us with his love and completedness.
